Luhubben.net is a Oneswarm Community Server for students in Lund. To gain access to the Community Server you need an @student.lu.se / @student.lth.se e-mail address.

Register your account here.

Share information and data

We believe that it’s every citizens right to share information and data with each other without surveillance from government or corporations. Therefore we want to aid students at Lund University to share files more securely.

The software OneSwarm, which is being developed at the University of Washington, stops a third party from discerning the source and target of data being shared in the network. By connecting to LU-hubben the user gets an automatically updated contact list with close and fast connections to the OneSwarm network.

Provide your student.lu.se / student.lth.se e-mail here and you will get instructions on how to connect to the server. There might be some hours between you apply and you get your e-mail. We will not log your e-mail once you have received your instructions and it cannot be traced to your connection to the swarm.

Download the OneSwarm-client here.

Guide to connect to the Community Server

Below is a quick guide of what to do once you receive the e-mail with your login.

If you are confused about any step, this video of a user going through the process might help.

First, of course, download and install OneSwarm for your system from http://oneswarm.cs.washington.edu/download.html. If you get the option to start OneSwarm with Windows, we recommend you choose to do so. Having the program running (not open in the browser) while your computer is on helps maintain the network for you and others.

Once you have installed OneSwarm, start it and open the browser interface and follow these instructions. Bolded words indicate buttons in the interface.

1. Change your display name to something random by pressing Change in the upper right corner and press save after writing your new name.

2. Press Share and then Add. Choose a library/directory where you want to store the files you share. Choose whether to share all kinds of files or only audio and video and then press Save. Finally, close the window by pressing x in the upper right corner.

3. Now, move the files you want to share to this directory. OneSwarm will start sharing after a few minutes.

4. Press Add server and under Site URL insert the address you received in your e-mail. Press Advanced and click the option for This server requires authorization. Now enter the login and password you got in the e-mail. Press Subscribe and when you get a list of friends, scroll down and press Save.

Please note that for speed and security it's best if you do not spread the login to others, all students can easily get a login from www.luhubben.net.

5. Wait for a few minutes until you start to get Online friends.

6. To download, write your search term in the Search field and press Enter. When you get a list of search results, click on the one you want and then press Download. If you don't change anything, the files will end up in the default OneSwarm directory (Documents – OneSwarm Downloads in Windows). You can monitor the progress by pressing Transfers.
